How it works:

Around 80% of the population has to deal with acne at some time. New technology Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) can get to the cause of acne infection and inflammation; help prevent development of acne cysts, papules, nodules, pustules and the eventual scarring. The non-invasive treatment of IPL, wide spectrum light waves from the hand piece penetrate the skin into the epidermis. Utilizing both light and heat energy the light penetrates the skin to treat inflammatory acne lesions and the sebaceous glands (oil glands).

During hormonal changes the sebaceous gland can produce up to 10 times that of normal production. This in its self can then trap bacteria within the hair follicle and acne is created. When the special spectrum light of the (yellow) is applied the por-phyrins absorb the light and release singlet oxygen. This singlet oxygen destroys the acne bacteria, the acne will start to heal and the skin will clear and less likely have reformation of acne lesions.

IPL does not only destroy Propionibacterium, which grows in the acne it also shrinks the overactive oil glands that cause the blockage in the hair follicle.  Heat energy, along with the green-yellow pulsed light, is used to create a lasting effect on the affected area without harming the surrounding skin tissues IPL treatments prevent scarring, reduce the number of painful lesions, limit the acne disease duration, and minimize stress and embarrassment associated with the acne condition.
