How it works:

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) has made a remarkable effect on skin pigmentation lesions. Treatment of IPL on the skin will diminish these brown pigment marks and repair the skin back to a normal even skin tone resulting in a more youthful appearance.

Pigmentation marks/growths are caused by an abnormal production of melanin in and on the skin. This is caused by either UVA (sun damage), hormonal, chemical, medical, trauma, or Vit C and A deficiencies.

These brown patches [lesions] age spots, freckles, lentigo, liver spots and freckles found on faces, décolletage, backs of hands, legs and forearms have developed over the years from exposure of the sun on the body. Photo therapy (PFT) light is non- evasive and filtered, producing awide spectrum light from the hand piece this light penetrates the skin and is attracted to the melanin in the pigment lesion. Utilizing both light and heat energy the light is selectively absorbed into the melanin in freckles, sunspots or hyper-pigmented areas and slows down the melanin production in that area destroying the melanin.

The abnormal pigment is then removed by the skin renewal process. Following the IPL treatment, the pigmented area turns darker and may crust. Over the following weeks the spot will gradually fade/flake away from the skin leaving little trace of the damaged skin. 

Hormonal, chemical and traumatically induced pigmentation are harder to treat and will respond more slowly.
